Whalen

Whalen is a loving Great Pyrenees mix, born around late September 2023 and rescued in December 2023. He's a high-ranked male who forms a good partnership with other dogs, like his friend Willie. Whalen has a distinctive paw that turns outward, but it doesn't seem to hinder his mobility. While he enjoys chasing cats, he's not aggressive towards them. He's a barker when new people arrive but calms down afterward. Whalen is not yet leash-trained or familiar with basic commands, but he's eager to learn and build a strong connection with his new person. He has no destructive tendencies and doesn't suffer from separation anxiety.

Ideal Home

Whalen would thrive in a country setting, ideally in a single-family home with a securely fenced yard of at least 5 feet. He has not been around children and his interactions with them are unknown.

Ongoing Health

Whalen's outward-turning paw doesn't appear to affect his walking. He is neutered and vaccinated.

Training & Support

Whalen is not crate-trained and needs to learn basic commands and leash manners. Programs like Recallers can help build a strong bond and teach him new skills. The Trust Technique may be beneficial in helping him manage his excitement around new people.
