Meet Tego the dog who never stopped believing in people
Tego is a sweet, resilient 6-year-old, 42-lb boy with a calm spirit and a kind heart. Gentle, thoughtful, and quietly curious, he approaches the world with confidence and gratitude.
Tego loves people and wants nothing more than to be by your side. He enjoys walks, exploring, and then cuddling close afterward. When volunteers take him out, even for just 15 minutes, his joy is undeniable he wiggles his whole body side to side, simply happy to be loved and included.
Tego was found as a young dog abandoned on the street and rescued by a kind local man who already had eight dogs. When the man was injured at work and could no longer care for so many animals, he brought four of them to our partner rescue, SOS El Arca. Tego was one of them.
After losing another person he had grown attached to, Tego was understandably confused. But he is incredibly resilient.
For nearly three years, Tego has watched other dogs leave the shelter while he stays behind. Day after day, month after month, he waits patiently for someone to notice him. Yet he still greets every visitor with the same hopeful smile. are often adopted quickly, while wonderful adult dogs like Tego are too often overlooked. We want to change that.
Tego is grounded, gentle, and affectionate. He loves being near caregivers and volunteers, calmly sitting beside them in the kennel as if offering quiet comfort. There is something deeply healing about him his beautiful eyes are full of depth, love, and trust.
Tego would make a wonderful companion. He loves people, smiles at them, and showers them with joy when they show him affection. Because he is confident and adaptable, he could do well in the city or in a quieter neighborhood. He is good with other dogs and neutral with cats. He could join a home with another dog, or he could be perfectly happy as the only dog, soaking up all the love and attention.
Anyone who gives Tego a chance will be rewarded with a deeply loyal, loving companion the kind of once-in-a-lifetime dog who never forgets the kindness shown to him.
We would love to bring Tego to New York on our June transport, but he can only make the journey with a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home in place. Tego has already endured too much uncertainty. His next chapter deserves security, love, and belonging.
Tego is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, and crate trained.
