Meet Star, a beautiful 3-year-old black Lab mix with a gentle spirit, a thoughtful nature, and a heart full of love. Star and her brother, Comet, experienced an unexpected tragedy when their owner passed away suddenly while on vacation, leaving them and three other dogs without a home. Thankfully, their dedicated sitters advocated tirelessly for the pups and were able to get all five into rescues. Star and Comet joined our rescue in January, and it has been such a privilege to get to know these deserving dogs.
Star is a demure, nature-loving girl who finds joy in the simple things. She loves belly rubs, stuffed toys, chasing squirrels, and going for peaceful walks. She rides beautifully in the car, is extremely dog friendly, and is perfectly house trained. Star also loves her crate and settles in comfortably when it’s time to relax. When you first meet Star, she may be a little reserved. She likes to observe and take things in before jumping right into new relationships. But it doesn’t take long for her to open up, and once she does, she becomes the sweetest, most affectionate companion. She is incredibly loyal to her people and has a quiet intelligence that shines through in everything she does. Star is wonderful with children, especially those who are a little older (around 6+, or those who can let her warm up at her own pace), and she has excellent manners. She knows not to jump on people and carries herself with a calm, respectful demeanor that makes her a joy to have around. Star will make an amazing companion for a lucky family who appreciates a thoughtful, loyal, and deeply loving dog. And if you were wondering about her name, it comes from the perfectly star-shaped patch of white on her chest. She’s as stunning as she is lovely.
