About Onyx

UPDATE!! ✨

Meet Onyx. This sweet girl lost her owner, and then her caregiver passed away. She and her dog pals were left to fend for themselves for at least six months. By the time our rescue was alerted, Onyx had a litter of babies under a shed. Temperatures were dropping, and we had to act quickly. Mom and babies were pulled from under the shed and secured in foster care. Sadly, mom and all babies broke with parvo. Thankfully, we were able to save all but one sweet pup. All have now healed physically and are doing great. Onyx will be spayed and adoption ready next week.

Onyx is a special case. While physically she has healed, mentally she still fears change and new people. She’s not aggressive in any way but definitely a flight risk until she is comfortable. She needs a family that will give her patience and time to adjust and all the love she needs to overcome her past. She is a beautiful lab mix around 50 lbs. She is great with dogs and a sweet girl with people once her guard is let down. A calmer, older household we feel would be best and easiest for this girl to adjust and show her full potential in.

Ideal Home

A calm, older household where she can be given patience and time to adjust.

Ongoing Health

Onyx has fully recovered from parvo. She will be spayed before adoption. All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age-appropriate shots, dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if at least 16 weeks), and spay/neuter.

Training & Support

Onyx is a flight risk until she is comfortable with new people and environments. She needs a patient family to help her adjust.
