Say hello to Gio, a 4-year-old, 78-pound black lab mix who has truly perfected the art of the bear hug! This sweet, cuddly boy is all about spreading love and has an abundance of it to share. He loves to wrap his front paws around you for a big ol' bear hug, and once he knows you're a friend, he'll quickly settle into your lap. Gio is incredibly affectionate and melts into your touch, soaking up every bit of love you offer. He's a certified love bug and is eager to become your new best friend!
Gio is not just about cuddles; he also has a playful side! He enjoys walks and loves splashing in the water, becoming more confident in the pool each day. With a little more practice, he'll be a great swimmer in no time. Gio's balanced energy levels make him the perfect companion for both playtime and relaxation. He's a good traveler in the car and is always up for an adventure, but he's equally happy to chill with his favorite humans.
Gio is a fast learner and is excelling in obedience classes, mastering leash walking like a champ. He's enthusiastic about meeting new friends, sometimes a little too much, but he's learning to manage his excitement. He is working on some food guarding behaviors and is making daily progress.
Gio currently lives harmoniously with three older female dogs, respecting their boundaries and giving them space. He does not get along with the male foster dog in his current home, so a home with only female dogs or as the sole canine companion would be ideal. He has not been tested with cats, but with careful introductions, he may be able to live with them. Gio is crate-trained but, like any curious dog, may chew on things when bored. Providing him with plenty of toys and activities will keep him happily entertained. The adopter will also receive a few training sessions to ensure Gio's continued success in his forever home.
Ideal Home
Gio would thrive in a home looking for a big-hearted pup who loves affection, enjoys outdoor adventures and cozy cuddles, and is ready to be a loyal companion. A home with only female dogs or as the only dog would be best. Homes with children 10 years and older are recommended.
