Miranda is an approximately 1 year and 9 month-old Caramelo Dog / Labrador Retriever mix, weighing about 46 pounds. She's a sweet and energetic girl with a protective nature, forming strong bonds with her people. Miranda is a smart cookie, being crate trained, house trained, and a great leash walker. She's also a social butterfly, getting along wonderfully with cats, dogs, children, men, and women. You can count on her to let you know if something seems amiss, as she's watchful of her surroundings. While she's loving and social, Miranda can be a bit shy in new situations, needing a little time and gentle reassurance to feel completely comfortable.
Her journey started on the streets of Houston, where kind workers and a food vendor offered her comfort and sustenance. When that temporary safety ended, the food vendor, worried about Miranda being alone again, took her in and then sought help to ensure she found a truly loving and permanent home. Now, Miranda is ready to share her affection and loyalty with a family that will cherish her.
Ideal Home
Miranda would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard, where she can safely explore and play. Her ideal family enjoys outdoor activities and has a deep understanding and appreciation for street animals and their need for protection, education, and patience. Previous experience with dog behavior and training would be a great asset, as she does need some support in areas like house training.
Ongoing Health
Miranda is up-to-date on her vaccinations, including DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella. She has been spayed, dewormed, and tested for heartworms. She also comes with a health certificate and a vaccination booklet.
Training & Support
Miranda is house-trained and crate-trained, and walks well on a leash. However, she is not yet fully house-trained, and her new family will need to continue her house-training journey with patience and consistency. Her protective nature means she will bark when sensing something is wrong or if she feels threatened, which is a behavior her new family should understand and guide. She can also be a bit nervous in new environments and will benefit from a patient approach as she settles in.
