Olia is a beautiful, curious, and playful 60.4 lb girl who was found abandoned and underweight. Thankfully, she's recovered beautifully and is now a gorgeous girl with a loving personality! Olia is a velcro dog who loves to be close to her people, often thinking she's a lap dog and will happily snuggle up on you. She's a champion sleeper and is generally easygoing at home, enjoying a good chew toy or game of tug-of-war every couple of hours. She's also housetrained and sleeps soundly through the night. Olia is a quick learner, mastering the doggie door with ease and responding well to commands like sit, paw, wait, down, and out inside the home. She's especially improved at waiting patiently for her food and for doors to be opened. While she rarely barks, she will alert you if someone is approaching the door.
Ideal Home
Olia thrives with a family who can provide her with regular mental stimulation and continue her training. Due to her exuberance and tendency to playfully nip or jump when overstimulated, a home with very young children may not be the best fit, as she can unintentionally knock them over or nip while playing.
Ongoing Health
Olia has no known health conditions and fully recovered from her initial neglect.
Training & Support
Olia is working on leash manners, including pulling and an inconsistent recall, especially when distracted by prey animals like birds and squirrels. She also has some intermittent reactivity to things like electric scooters, skateboards, trucks, and sometimes certain people, which can be a challenge on walks. Consistent positive reinforcement and redirection with treats can help manage these triggers. She has a tendency to look for food on countertops when bored or if left alone for extended periods, so continued management and engagement are key.
