Meet Gonzie Mae — the little underbite girl with a story of survival, heartbreak, and finally… hope. 🤍

Just hours before severe storms rolled through and flooding hit the area, Gonzie Mae was found wandering alone. When her foster mom picked her up, she discovered over 20 puncture wounds scattered across her tiny body. Despite everything she had endured, Gonzie Mae still melted into her arms begging for love.

As the community searched for her owners, neighbors began recognizing her story. One woman shared that she had seen Gonzie Mae weeks earlier living in the woods behind the neighborhood, heavily pregnant and trying to survive on her own. A few days later, they went back to check on her and discovered she had given birth during a rainstorm. Tragically, her puppies did not survive.

Not long after, another good Samaritan spotted her again — this time covered in wounds and clearly hurting. Yet somehow, through all the loss and pain, Gonzie Mae never lost her sweet spirit.

Now she’s finally safe.She’s loved.She’s healing.And for the first time in a long time, she gets to just be a dog.

Gonzie Mae is the happiest little pug/beagle mix with the cutest underbite and the biggest heart. She adores children, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and believes the best place in the world is curled up asleep in your lap. She’s goofy, affectionate, resilient, and ready to leave her hardened past behind forever.

Gonzie Mae is searching for the forever family she deserves one filled with soft beds, warm blankets, and humans who will never let her face another storm alone.

After everything she’s survived, it’s finally her turn to be somebody’s baby.

She is currently being fostered in San Antonio, Texas, but is available for adoption nationwide for an additional transport fee.
