Rocko Rooster is a friendly and sweet 4-year-old, 81 lb boy who loves affection and gives gentle kisses in return. He was surrendered to a local shelter for unknown reasons and has now come to us to find his forever home. Rocko walks nicely on leash, rides calmly in the car, and does well on outings, including to a coffee shop!
Rocko recently enjoyed a two-week foster stay, where his foster dad learned a lot about him. Rocko is happiest when close to his people, always ready for cuddles and attention. He blossomed in foster care, showing increased confidence. He has wonderful leash manners, walking without pulling and ignoring distractions. While he was initially reserved at the dog park, he eventually explored and made human friends. Rocko does very well with other dogs and is excellent with people, including small children.
Rocko was great in the house, sleeping through the night, house-trained, and using a doggie door. He tolerated a grooming appointment well. He initially howled when home alone but this stopped as he became more comfortable and learned routines. He is very smart and quickly picks up on commands like "come here," "get down," and "no." However, Rocko can be a bit of a counter surfer when unsupervised, so keeping snacks out of reach is important. He loves lounging by the front door and watching the world go by, and prefers to sleep on his person's bed. Rocko is a wonderful dog ready to share plenty of kisses with his new family.
Ideal Home
Rocko is excellent with other dogs and people, including small children. Adopters will need to keep snacks safely out of reach as he can be a counter surfer.
