Canela is a bright, loving, and full-of-life young dog with the heart and spirit typical of an Australian Kelpie. Known for their intelligence, loyalty, and high energy, Kelpies are active companions who thrive with people who enjoy outdoor activities—and Canela is no exception. She walks well on a leash and is very social with dogs and people alike—men, women, and strangers don’t make her nervous at all. In fact, she’s incredibly friendly and affectionate. Canela has a playful and funny personality—she’ll even jump up as if she were a tiny Chihuahua, hoping to be picked up and cuddled! Canela is energetic, curious, and always ready for fun. She would be an ideal companion for someone who enjoys walks, exercise, or an active lifestyle. Whether it’s exploring new places or simply spending time together, she brings joy and excitement wherever she goes. Her story began on an autumn afternoon, when she was found alone playing in the street. No one in the neighborhood recognized her, and fearing for her safety, she was taken in to protect her from potential harm. Since then, she has shown nothing but love, resilience, and a wonderful spirit. Canela is ready to find a forever home where she can share her energy, affection, and loyal heart. With the right family, she will make an incredibly devoted and fun-loving companion.
Ideal Home
Canela would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She is not house-trained, and requires a high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies. She also needs a family with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer.
Ongoing Health
Canela has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, has been dewormed, and is microchipped. She also tested negative for heartworm and has a 4DX test and certificate. She receives monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm.
Training & Support
Canela may get bored if she doesn’t have enough stimulation and may chew on objects, especially plastic. Providing her with toys and guidance will help her thrive. She may also bark when she hears unfamiliar noises, as she is naturally alert and aware of her surroundings. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences, and patience and understanding are crucial to building trust and strengthening the bond.
