In September 2024, a young man walking along a beach in Saint Lucia found Dunkin lying in the sand injured, severely emaciated, and so weak that it was hard to imagine he had the strength left to keep going. He had every reason to be afraid. Every reason to give up. But when help reached him, Dunkin did something extraordinary. He wagged his tail. Despite everything he had endured, he looked at his rescuers with gentle eyes and a trusting heart, as if he knew his suffering was finally over. Volunteers rushed him to the veterinarian, where his wounds were treated and his journey back to life began. For weeks, he was fed small meals every few hours as his broken body slowly started to heal. And then came the day we will never forget. The day Dunkin stood up on his own. A moment that felt nothing short of a miracle. Nearly a year has passed since the day he was found on that beach. During that time, Dunkin has watched so many other dogs leave for their happily ever after. And still, he waits. He waits with the same gentle spirit. The same loving heart. The same gratitude for every kind touch and every moment of affection. Dunkin is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had the privilege of knowing. He loves people, enjoys being close to those who care for him, and asks for so very little.
