Vaquero is a charming 5-year-old, 46 lb Black Mouth Cur mix with a heart full of love to give. He was found in Edinburg, Texas, in rough condition with severe mange and was dangerously underweight. It's incredible to see how far he's come! Vaquero was once a very timid dog, fearful of humans, but he's blossomed into a confident and affectionate companion. He now eagerly greets people and thrives on attention and pets. Despite his past hardships, he has no long-term health effects and is a picture of resilience.
Ideal Home
Vaquero would thrive in a home with older, gentle children. While he enjoys playtime, he's happiest relaxing and enjoying downtime, making him the perfect couch companion for movie nights. He's also cat-friendly and gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes.
Ongoing Health
Vaquero is neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and preventative care. He will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian before transport.
Training & Support
Vaquero is already house-trained and a pro at car rides, enjoying the view from the window. He's eager to please and loves treats, making him a joy to train.

Transporation
Vaquero is currently in a temporary foster sanctuary near the Texas/Mexico border. We do not adopt within Texas due to the high euthanasia rates. We arrange transport for our dogs to the Central US and East Coast every 2-3 weeks.
