About Marley
This is Marley, a 4-year-old guardian mix who is ready to find his forever home! Marley was surrendered by his previous owners because they didn't have much experience with guardian breeds and the lifestyle they thrive in. While they loved him dearly, their busy household and open-door neighborhood policy caused Marley a lot of stress. They realized that rehoming him to a quieter home with owners knowledgeable about guardian breeds would be the best path for him. We were happy to step in and help Marley find the perfect match!
Marley is a handsome boy who was rescued from the streets of Texas as a puppy. He can be a bit shy when you first meet him, but once he warms up, he'll shower you with love! A DNA test revealed he's almost entirely guardian breeds, which means he can be protective of his loved ones – his family is his world. If you're looking for a devoted protector who would bravely stand by your side, Marley is your dog! He is not suited for novice owners or those unfamiliar with guardian breeds. While he is incredibly sweet with his "pack," he needs proper introductions to strangers to help him avoid unnecessary guarding behavior. Marley has been living with a trainer and is now well-prepared for his forever home. He walks beautifully on a leash, knows all his commands, and has reliable off-leash recall. He's also crate-trained and fantastic with other dogs, children, and cats. The most important thing to remember about Marley is his breed mix and his innate guarding instincts. When set up for success, Marley truly shines, but when not, he'll naturally act according to his breed. Everyone who meets Marley falls in love with him, but we are committed to finding him the absolute perfect situation. He would do best with a knowledgeable handler of his breed mix, someone who is structured, loving, yet firm, and who does not have an open-door policy. He is an absolute sweetheart who loves to cuddle with his people for hours. He enjoys his walks and a structured routine. Marley would be an ideal companion for someone or a family looking for a dog to protect them, as he is truly the kind of dog who would take a bullet for his family. He is the best naturally protective dog we've seen, and with the right management, he will be a bright star in your life!
