Meet Kane – a gentle, loving companion with a big heart
Kane is a wonderful 5-year-old, sweet-natured dog who truly loves being close to his people. He’s the kind of dog who will happily snuggle on the couch, soak up affection, and follow you around the house just to be near you. He adores his stuffed toys and has several favorites that he proudly carries around. One of his most endearing traits is his “woo-woo” talking — he’ll happily chat with you, and it never fails to make people smile. Kane is friendly with everyone he meets and is great with other animals. He lives peacefully with two cats and has done well with every dog he’s been around. He’s also been wonderful with children, including grandkids ages 3-10. He’s gentle taking treats, not possessive over toys or food, and is respectful in the house — you can trust him even with shoes left out, as he’s not destructive. He knows basic commands like sit and usually comes when called. While he enjoys a bit of fun — like chasing squirrels in the yard — he’s also very content being a couch potato and relaxing indoors most of the day. Kane is crate trained and willingly goes into his crate to sleep. This very difficult rehoming decision is due solely to a change in his owner’s personal circumstances — not because of any fault of Kane’s. He is deeply loved, cherished, and will be greatly missed.
Ideal Home
Kane would thrive in a home that values companionship, affection, and understands that some dogs need a little extra reassurance. He will do best with an adopter who has flexibility with work or is not gone for long hours, at least while his separation anxiety continues to be addressed.
Ongoing Health
Kane is believed to be around 4–5 years old, is heartworm negative, and in good overall health. His current family has been working with their veterinarian to find the right medication to help manage his separation anxiety.
Training & Support
Kane knows basic commands like sit and usually comes when called. He is crate trained and willingly goes into his crate to sleep. He does have separation anxiety when left alone and will vocalize and become anxious if his people leave the house. With the right setup and patience, Kane has so much love to give.

Kane is located in Maplewood, NJ. Transport can be arranged to approved adopters within a reasonable distance.
