Meet Maeve, a truly resilient and loving 3-year-old girl who has already overcome so much. Maeve was found as a stray, injured after being hit by a vehicle. She required emergency medical attention to drain fluid from her abdomen and help her breathe. X-rays revealed a detached nerve in her right leg. Despite this, Maeve is a quick learner, incredibly intelligent, and eager to please. She was found with her 11 puppies, which suggests she's had multiple litters in her young life. Maeve is a devoted shadow, always wanting to be near her people, and she showers them with affection and snuggles. She is gentle with children of all ages, including a 5-month-old baby. Maeve enjoys playing with toys and shows great promise as a fetch enthusiast once she's adjusted to life on three legs. She respects cats and, with clear boundaries, can coexist peacefully, though she does show initial interest in chasing. She also demonstrates good behavior with other dogs and takes corrections well. Maeve will have her leg amputated and will be spayed around July 12th, after which she will be ready for her forever home. In the meantime, she is available for a foster-to-adopt arrangement.
Ideal Home
Maeve would thrive in a home where she can continue to receive love and attention. She has shown interest in chasing free-range chickens, so a home without them would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Maeve is currently being treated for a severe ear infection with pred and BNT. She will be undergoing a leg amputation surgery and will be spayed around July 12th.
Training & Support
Maeve is intelligent and a fast learner. She is being kenneled during the day, and while she has previously escaped, she does not get into anything or cause destruction once her kennel was secured. She respects other dogs and cats, but clear boundaries will help her settle in well.
