Meet Django! This bright, two-year-old mixed breed is about 50 pounds of sleek black fur with white accents. Django is a smart, active companion who forms deep bonds with his people and greets their return with enthusiastic joy! He's a dog who thrives on both connection and purpose. Once he feels comfortable and safe, his affectionate side truly shines through, with plenty of cuddles and leaning in for pets.
Adventure is equally important to Django. He's a toy enthusiast who loves a good game of fetch with balls, sticks, and frisbees. Walks, runs, and even swimming are high on his list of favorite activities, and he proudly carries a stick or ball during walks as if it's his special job. His intelligence is evident in his eagerness to learn and train. Django already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, and "no bark," with "ok" as his release cue. Positive reinforcement training keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free, and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django experiences fear-based reactivity in certain situations, including unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, or dogs encountered on leash. He requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support. He also has a history of resource guarding with another dog around food, toys, or personal space, and there was one minor nip incident involving an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him time to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence.
