Meet Willow!
Willow is a courageous and resilient two-year-old Siberian Husky/American Pitbull Terrier mix with a tricolor coat that shines as brightly as her spirit. Despite a challenging start in life, she has blossomed into a loving and curious girl with an unstoppable zest for life. As a distemper survivor, Willow has shown incredible strength and a fighter's heart, yet her joyful nature shines through during her favorite long walks or quiet cuddle sessions. She absolutely loves exploring the world on adventures, big or small, with her favorite person.
Ideal Home
Willow would thrive in a home where she can be the center of attention and receive one-on-one affection. She does best as the only dog, but her trainer believes she could potentially do well with a dog of similar energy and age, provided there's no food sharing. She needs a calm environment with a routine, and a family that values kindness and patience. She is fearful of strangers, particularly men, and can react defensively when feeling unsure. Willow also tends to nip when overexcited and has shown protective behaviors, including a past incident with a mail carrier. She needs a home with adults who understand her past trauma and are committed to helping her build confidence.
Ongoing Health
Willow is a distemper survivor.
Training & Support
Willow is crate trained, house trained, and knows "sit." She is actively working through confidence-building exercises in a board-and-train program. Her current training focuses on positive reinforcement to help her learn to trust again. She needs a consistent routine and patience to help her continue to succeed. She can guard her food around other dogs and may nip when overly excited.
