Dixie - F

Dixie is the gentlest soul who didn't fight back during a senseless attack. She is a German Shepherd who is incredibly sweet and resilient. Despite a traumatic injury, Dixie has endured her medical treatments with remarkable bravery. She enjoys her favorite stuffed toys and a ball when she's not at the vet. Dixie is currently staying in her own private room, much like a typical teenager who prefers their own space, but she does wander around her foster home.

Ideal Home

Dixie requires an obedience-trained home with a fully fenced yard. She needs a family who understands her current medical needs and can provide a stable, loving environment.

Ongoing Health

Dixie has sustained severe trauma to her wrist, which is described as "crushed to pieces" with extensive ligament damage. She is missing bone in her foot, and at least two toes may need to be removed. She requires daily professional bandage changes, which are costly and sometimes require light sedation due to irritation. The goal is to save her leg through specialized surgery, which could involve wrist fusion or synthetic bone grafting, rather than amputation.

Training & Support

Dixie will need to complete obedience training after adoption, and a certificate of completion must be submitted.

Transporation

Dixie is currently in a foster home. We do not transport our companions.
