Frederick is an 8-year-old Morkie (Yorkie-Maltese mix) who embodies the definition of a distinguished gentleman. He carries himself with quiet dignity and has a knack for expressing exactly how much he enjoys a good belly rub. If dogs had a club for those who appreciate tweed jackets and a morning cup of tea, Frederick would undoubtedly be its president. He came to us after his previous owner could no longer care for him, and the world felt a little uncertain at first. Frederick prefers thoughtful introductions and a little time to get acquainted. Once he trusts you, you'll find a loyal shadow who will quietly choose you as their favorite person and will wonder why you ever thought you could walk from one room to another without his company.
Frederick has discovered that simple pleasures are the best. His mornings begin with breakfast, which he enjoys with a delicious cooked food topper. Afterward, he loves a nice walk, proudly following his foster sister and investigating interesting scents. Back home, Frederick settles into his favorite role: professional companion. He's content to be near you whether you're reading, working, folding laundry, or watching television. He's not demanding and doesn't require constant entertainment; he simply enjoys sharing life with his people. He enjoys a lunchtime meal and another leisurely walk before settling in for an afternoon nap. His evenings include dinner, a final stroll, and a well-earned spot on the couch.

Frederick would be an exceptional companion for a retired person looking for an easygoing best friend to share daily walks and quiet evenings. He would also thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes and build his confidence. Frederick can also be a wonderful companion for first-time dog owners, as long as they understand that every new friendship is built on patience and trust.
Ongoing Health
Frederick is currently putting on a little healthy weight and is enjoying a lunchtime meal. All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.
Training & Support
Frederick's foster family has been working on his house training, and he's making steady progress every day. He is comfortable relaxing in an exercise pen while you're away and sleeps soundly in his crate at night. He is remarkably quiet, rarely barking except to announce his excitement for a walk or when playtime becomes especially entertaining.
