About Reece

Reece is a 3-year-old male sable German Shepherd who came to us from a hoarding situation. This challenging start meant he was initially scared and shut down, but Reece is a dog who knows how to move forward! Now safe, he's on his way to a brighter future.

After months of dedicated care, Reece has blossomed in his foster home. He's gone from being terrified of people to soliciting attention from his foster mom, and he's gained much-needed weight thanks to a good appetite! While he's still a bit shy about car rides and hesitant on a leash, these are areas where he's showing daily improvement. Reece finds comfort in his crate but would do best in a home where he won't need to be crated for extended periods. He hasn't shown much interest in toys yet, but we're hopeful that will develop over time. Reece has a wonderful temperament and gets along famously with other dogs, even tolerating the playfulness of puppies, with whom he enjoys a game of chase!

Ideal Home

Reece needs a quiet, adult-only home with a patient adopter who can help him build confidence and overcome his shyness. He needs an adopter with recent experience raising a shy German Shepherd or other large breed working dog. A home without cats or other small animals is essential.

Ongoing Health

Reece is generally healthy and has gained weight since arriving.

Training & Support

Reece is making progress with leash walking and car rides. Basic obedience training using positive reinforcement would be beneficial once he has established trust and a bond with his adopter.
