Rosie — Retired Mama Looking for Her Safe Landing Spot Some dogs come to the shelter carrying more than a leash—they carry the weight of everything they've been through. Rosie is a 3-year-old Labrador mix who has already spent much of her young life being a mama. Now it's finally her turn to be cared for. The shelter has been a big adjustment for Rosie, but she's making progress every day. While the kennel can still be overwhelming at times, once she's outside and with her people, her sweet personality shines through. She relaxes, leans in for affection, gives out endless kisses, and reminds everyone that she's so much more than what you see through kennel bars. One thing that has made a huge difference for Rosie is participating in our daily playgroups. She's been paired with our gentler, calmer dogs, and that social time has helped reduce her kennel stress tremendously. Rosie prefers calm canine companions and enjoys simply existing alongside them rather than roughhousing. Watching her decompress with the right dog friends has been wonderful to see. Rosie greets everyone the same way—with a full-body lean and sweet kisses, whether you've known her for years or just met her. She knows how to speak on command and loves being close to her people. If you're standing still, chances are Rosie is leaning against you, soaking up every bit of affection she can get. She recently visited the KSHE 95 studio and was the perfect guest. While staff chatted away, she happily watched the world through the windows before curling up for a nap on the floor. She also attended our Fast & Furriest event, greeting visitors with tail wags and kisses. She preferred relaxing under benches and tables to stay cool (the kiddie pools were definitely not her thing!) and handled the busy environment well for about two hours. Rosie's ideal home: * Prefers calm, respectful dogs with a similar energy level * No cats, please * Active family who wants to include her in everyday life * Indoor home where she'll be a true member of the family Rosie isn't looking to be a backyard dog. She wants to be your sidekick—joining you on walks, rides, lazy afternoons, and everyday adventures. She has already spent her life caring for others. Now it's her turn to be the one who is loved, protected, and cherished. After everything she's been through, Rosie deserves someone to finally tell her: You're home now.
