About Maggie

Some say the second time's the charm, and I truly believe it! Hi, I'm Maggie, a sweet 1.5-year-old, 70 lb Lab mix who's ready for my true forever home. My journey started with The Cantu Foundation before, and after a little detour, I'm back, more ready than ever to find my perfect family. I'm a big softie with a heart full of love, just waiting to share it all with you. I'm a true "Velcro dog" who bonds quickly and completely to my people, always eager to be right by your side, whether you're relaxing or moving around the house. Give me a toy, and I can entertain myself for ages! I adore playing and have a blast with my foster pup sister, showing off my playful, goofy side. I'm completely comfortable and content in my crate, seeing it as my safe den, and I'm a pro at being fully potty trained, always knowing exactly where to do my business. The world outside my home can sometimes feel a bit big and new, but with your help and reassurance, I'm learning that new experiences aren't so scary after all.

Ideal Home

My loving nature truly shines in a comfortable home environment. While I adore being close to my humans and will look to you for guidance and reassurance, exploring the great outdoors is still a journey we're working on together. Because I didn't get much early exposure to different environments, I can sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed on walks, benefiting from slow introductions to new sights and sounds. I tend to feel most comfortable pottying in a home with a yard, but we are making great progress every day in building my confidence in various outdoor settings. I grew up with small children and was told I was very gentle and loving with them, so I could be a wonderful family dog.

Training & Support

I can sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed on walks, benefiting from slow introductions to new sights and sounds. We've found that using a gentle lead, paired with a confident leader to guide me with "leave it" commands, tasty treats, and lots of praise, really helps me to feel more secure. We are making great progress every day in building my confidence in various outdoor settings.
