Freckles is a 6-year-old Cocker Spaniel with a stunning red coat, soulful dark eyes, and the most irresistible freckled face. She's a warm, charming, friendly, confident, and joyful soul. Freckles came from a puppy mill, but she arrived in foster care with no signs of trauma or fear, ready to embrace love. She's adaptable, easygoing, and happiest when she's near her people, enjoying short daily walks. Freckles gets along beautifully with other dogs and has shown no aggression. While not yet tested with cats or children, introductions should be slow and thoughtful. She's a quiet dog, but she will announce visitors with an adorable, expressive howl. Freckles is crate-trained, mostly house-trained, and travels well in the car. She's a couch companion who loves to settle in beside her people. She coexists peacefully with other dogs in her foster home, and calm, unhurried introductions to new dogs are always recommended. Due to her puppy mill background, Freckles is considered a flight risk, so secure doors and adult supervision when outside in unfenced areas are essential.
Ideal Home
Freckles would do well in almost any home. She needs a home that will love her consistently, keep up with her ear care, work patiently with her on leash manners, and give her plenty of couch time. Because of her background, adopters must have plans in place to ensure doors are shut quickly and she is always under adult control when outside and not in a secure, fenced yard. Slow and supervised introductions are recommended for any children over 6 years of age, as she has not been tested with them.
Ongoing Health
Freckles' ears require regular attention, as Cocker Spaniels are prone to ear infections. She was treated for a yeast infection in both ears upon arrival, which has since cleared up. Her new family will need to make ear cleaning a regular part of her routine and stay alert to any signs of recurring infection. Regular vet checkups are important.
Training & Support
Freckles has no formal obedience training yet but is eager to please and is warming up to treats (especially cheese!). As with all adoptions, her new family will be required to follow up with structured obedience training, which will be beneficial for her leash skills and bond. Positive reinforcement training will do wonders for her.
