Sir Charles is a happy, loving, and playful 2 to 3-year-old boy who is mostly quiet but will "talk" or get mouthy when he wants something to eat, play, or go out. He adores people of all ages and just wants to shower them with affection and be loved. Sir Charles is all in when it comes to toys, enjoying plush squeaky toys and playing fetch indoors and outdoors. He enjoys walks and playtime in the yard. This boy is comical and will keep you laughing, enjoying a good snuggle with his family. Sir Charles has so much to give and so much potential, and with the right family, the best is yet to be!
When found, Sir Charles was suspected of being hit by a car and managed to drag himself to safety before collapsing in someone's yard. Animal Control brought him to a shelter where he was examined by a veterinarian, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was transported to an emergency hospital for critical care. After diagnostic testing, Charles' prognosis was guarded due to pneumothorax, a degloving injury to his lower lip, broken teeth, lacerations, and a foreign body in his stomach. He underwent a chest tap, was placed on pain medication, and stabilized with a chest tube. While in the hospital, Charles' sweet nature endeared him to the staff, and he tolerated procedures well, even attempting to give kisses despite his painful mouth. Within days, he made great strides towards recovery and was discharged. Thanks to a wonderful, experienced foster family, Charles was taken into rescue. He later underwent surgery to remove a rock and a piece of glass from his stomach and made a full recovery.
Ideal Home
Sir Charles would do best as the only pet in the home, as he is not a fan of other dogs, cats, or small animals. He is housebroken and crate trained. Because he pulls on the leash when he sees dogs and wildlife, he will benefit from a Husky-savvy family that can continue his leash training, though he has shown improvement. He can be skittish with loud noises, trucks, and loud cars, but is not bothered by fireworks or thunder when he is indoors.
Ongoing Health
Sir Charles has a history of significant trauma, including pneumothorax, a degloving injury to his lower lip, broken teeth, lacerations, and a foreign body in his stomach. He has made a full recovery from all medical interventions.
Training & Support
Sir Charles needs continued leash training, especially regarding pulling when he sees dogs and wildlife. He has shown improvement in this area.
