Hershey

Hershey is a sweet Chihuahua boy who weighs about 8.6 lbs and was born on January 10, 2026. He is a happy, playful little guy who loves to run around and explore. Hershey isn't very interested in toys, but he enjoys spending time with people and his canine friends. He is not much of a barker and has a cheerful personality that brightens every room he enters. Hershey sleeps in an open crate at bedtime and comes and goes freely as he pleases. Like many young dogs, he is curious and loves to chew, so he will need appropriate chew toys and supervision as he continues to learn. Hershey was born into a home where promises were made to care for the puppies, but as they grew, those promises faded. There were days when the puppies went without food, and eventually, we were asked to help find them safe homes. Today, Hershey is safe, healthy, and ready for a family that will cherish him forever. He deserves a home where he will never have to wonder where his next meal or his next cuddle will come from.

Ideal Home

Hershey would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, with an open conscience about the needs of rescued animals, and who understands their behaviors. Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are essential.

Ongoing Health

Hershey has been neutered, received 2 DHPPI shots, a Rabies vaccine, and a Bordetella vaccine. He has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. He is current on Nexgard Spectra monthly preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He comes with a health certificate and vaccine booklet.

Training & Support

Hershey is not house-trained. As a rescued dog, he may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and will need time to adapt to a new environment and people. Patience, understanding, establishing a routine, and clear boundaries will help build trust and strengthen the bond.

• Submit photos and videos of your home.
• If it's a match, we'll have a call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• We will speak with 1-2 of your references.
• If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and food.

Transportation

Hershey is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip if adopted. Transportation is available as a door-to-door delivery service for a one-time fee of $400 USD. We organize 3-4 trips per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. Our contracted transport company collects pets in Mexico and will escort them across the border into Texas for U.S. adoptions. For Canadian adoptions, pets are delivered to the nearest U.S.-Canada border. You will receive real-time updates via a private Facebook Messenger group, including photos and videos of your pet's journey, feeding and cleaning schedules, and Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA). The transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home address and conduct a final home review.
