Smokey

Meet Smokey! This handsome 2-year-old, 56-pound Lab mix is a bundle of fun, smarts, and silliness. He's fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on all preventatives, ready to bring joy to his forever home. Smokey has a moderate energy level and loves to play with other dogs, but he's also a good boy who knows when to settle down. He's friendly with new dogs and would absolutely thrive with a confident canine companion to show him the ropes. Smokey has been calm around children during their visits and is curious about cats, sometimes initiating play but other times leaving them be. He's a social butterfly who greets new people with enthusiasm, offering a friendly bark to announce visitors.

Ideal Home

Smokey would do best in a moderately active home with a patient family. A playful, confident dog sibling would be a wonderful addition to his life.

Smokey is up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives.

Training & Support

Smokey is still learning basic manners. He needs patient training for leash walking, as he can be a bit all over the place, though he does better with a harness. He's not a fan of his crate but will settle once inside and should be crated when left alone for no more than 9 hours, as he can be rambunctious and an escape artist. Smokey is a curious eater and thinks most things might be edible, so supervision will be key. He doesn't resource guard and is happy to share his belongings.

Smokey is currently located in Texas and can be transported to approved adopters in the Northeast, Midwest, or West Coast. Transports depart every few weeks.
