Moose

Moose is a charming 3-year-old Terrier mix who weighs 62 lbs and sports a striking red merle coat. He came to us as a stray on March 6th, 2026, after being originally adopted from our shelter in September 2025. Unfortunately, his previous owner rehomed him due to landlord issues, and it's believed he was then abandoned near Woolmarket Elementary School before being picked up by animal control. Moose is a resilient boy who deserves a loving, truly forever home. He's good with other dogs but enjoys his independence, and we always recommend proper introductions for any resident dogs over 6 months old. Moose is a people-lover and can sometimes forget his size, thinking he's a lap dog! He's great with older children (10+) and is a wonderful leash companion, eagerly awaiting his chance to meet you.

Ideal Home

A home that appreciates his independent spirit but also enjoys a cuddle buddy. He is good with older kids (10+) and does not require a fenced yard. We are unable to adopt to MA or RI residents at this time.

Ongoing Health

Moose's adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccines, and a microchip.

Training & Support

Moose is described as great on a leash.

Transportation

Moose is currently at HSSM. Transportation is available to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Transports are typically arranged within 1-3 weeks of application approval. Adopters will meet at a designated location for pickup. For more information on transports, please email transport@hssm.org.
