Taz

Hi there! I’m Taz, a 4–5-year-old mix of Belgian Malinois, Australian Kelpie, and Flat-Coated Retriever — but most importantly, I’m a certified good boy with a big heart. I weigh about 45 lbs and have come a long way from my early days in a tough shelter. The Cantu Foundation rescued me, and my personality and determination to thrive have shined ever since.

With patience and reassurance, I’ve blossomed into a cuddly, loyal, and affectionate companion. I love car rides (my safe spot!), outdoor play, and staying active with my people. I pick up new commands quickly and have even figured out how to open doors! I also get along with other dogs after proper introductions and do just fine with cats.

Ideal Home

My dream home would have a yard for my antics and an active person for walks and adventures. I'm looking for a family who understands that building confidence with alone time takes patience.

Ongoing Health

I have a slight limp from old injuries, but it doesn’t slow me down — I can run, play, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Training & Support

I can be sensitive about crates and being left alone, but I’m making great progress with guidance, consistency, and a little extra support. Leash training is still a work in progress, especially when other dogs are around, but with tools like a gentle leader, I’m improving every day. While water isn’t really my thing (rain and baths included), I love wipe-downs and brushing sessions.
