My name is Fido, and I'm a pretty 6-year-old girl, weighing in at 25 lbs, looking for my loving forever home! I arrived at my foster home in Jonesburg, MO, after the commercial breeding facility where I lived sadly closed down. I came here with a group of other dogs, and we were all very scared. The humans where I came from weren't always kind, but the humans here are so wonderful, and I'm slowly but surely getting braver! I used to cower in the corner when my foster family was nearby, but now I don't even run away when they approach me. I truly shine when I'm with other dogs, and I'm lucky to be surrounded by them here. Watching them play has helped me relax and feel so much safer. I'm still a bit skittish, especially around loud noises and sudden movements, but I'm starting to let my silly side show when I think no one is looking. I'm still a little fearful of going out in the yard on my own, so my foster parents kindly carry me outside. We've practiced leash walking, but I'm just not comfortable with it yet and may never be. I'm a good girl, and healthy too! I'm potty trained, spayed, and vaccinated. I don't make much noise or cause trouble. When I'm inside, I'm happy to hang out in my kennel on my own. I get along well with all the other dogs and don't bother the cats. I've never met human children, but I'm pretty sure I'd be terrified of them.
Ideal Home
My perfect forever home will be with a patient family who has experience with shy and fearful dogs. I'll need a securely fenced yard and at least one other nice dog to help me feel safe. My forever family should also know how to prevent escapes, as I might try to bolt if I get spooked. I'd do best in a quiet, adults-only home with no shared walls with other families, as I'm easily startled.
Ongoing Health
I'm a healthy girl! I'm spayed and vaccinated.
Training & Support
I'm potty trained and generally quiet. I'm still working on leash walking and am fearful of going outside on my own. Patience and understanding will be key to helping me adjust.
