Loki is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from the woods with his mother and siblings and has grown up in a loving foster home. Loki is the fearless ringleader of his litter, always the first to explore something new with confidence and a sense of adventure. He's an expert climber and loves to play keep-away with his toys. While he's playful and energetic, he's also beginning to settle into an incredible companion. He is potty trained but may have a few accidents as he adjusts to a new home. Loki can be a little hesitant with new experiences but quickly overcomes it. He loves food and will make sure to get his share. Despite his antics, Loki has a sweet side and transforms into a cuddly lap buddy after a day of play. He enjoys people and other dogs and has happily greeted adults and children at community events. He has some crate experience and has been around children, but his compatibility with cats is unknown. He is continuing to work on leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Loki would thrive in a home that can provide ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice to help him mature into an exceptional adult dog. We prefer homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Loki, as he benefits greatly from a canine role model. If you don't currently have another dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization, such as structured training classes, supervised daycare, or regular playdates with trusted dogs. Because Loki is still a young dog, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, as he will benefit from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in his listing.
Training & Support
Loki is potty trained, but a few accidents should be expected as he adjusts to a new routine. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. He is still very much an adolescent and is continuing to learn about the world around him. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Socialization is also very important for Loki.
