Forest is a handsome boy with a unique mix of Shepherd and Shih Tzu! He came to us with his brother after his family could no longer keep him, and while his brother has found his forever home, Forest is still waiting for his special someone. Forest is a spirited herding-type dog who loves to play and romp. He's a smart cookie and is working on his basic manners. He's also a pro at crate training, happily going in for a treat!
Ideal Home
Forest thrives with plenty of space to race and play. He absolutely needs a securely fenced yard, as he's not a fan of leash walks. He'd do best in a home with another dog who enjoys a higher-drive, herding-style play. He can be a bit bouncy, so a human who can physically manage his exuberance and help channel his happy energy is a must. Due to his reserved nature with strangers, a patient and understanding family who will earn his trust is ideal. He warms up with time and enjoys pets and following his favorite people around. While he's shy to start and can find stressful situations overwhelming, with the right environment, he'll blossom. Homes without young children are preferred.
Ongoing Health
Forest is up-to-date on vaccinations and has been spayed or neutered.
Training & Support
Forest isn't treat-motivated, so he'll do best with a skilled human who has a good understanding of canine behavior and training techniques. He needs guidance to channel his happy bounces productively and some help building his confidence with leash walking.
