Dahlia Daisy Flower is an 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as delicate and beautiful as her floral namesake. She's a sweet and loving pup, currently weighing around 35 pounds and not expected to get much larger than 40-45 pounds. Dahlia enjoys a good start to her day with a potty break and some energetic zoomies, followed by a brisk walk where her leash skills are nearly perfect – unless a squirrel makes an appearance! She loves exploring trails and parks, making friends with everyone she meets, and isn't afraid to take a dip in any creek or river she encounters, making her an ideal camping companion.
Dahlia is a great office assistant, happily snoozing by her foster mom's side, and she enjoys her playtime breaks with the four other dogs in her foster home. She coexists beautifully with two small female dogs, one medium male dog, and a large female dog. For success with small dogs, they should be able to assert their boundaries. Dahlia's favorite pastimes include tossing pine cones in the air to chase and carrying around big sticks!
Ideal Home
Dahlia would be happiest in a home with another playful dog or with access to regular doggy daycare, as she thrives on canine companionship. She has not been tested with cats or children, but is thought to do well with respectful children aged 8 and up. A home with shared walls may be a consideration due to her initial vocalization when left alone, though she does settle. She would also do well in a dog-friendly apartment or condo with plenty of exercise.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up-to-date on all her vetting, including DAPP vaccinations with boosters, Bordetella, and Rabies. She has received multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, is spayed, and is on flea prevention. She also receives a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative and has been tested for heartworm.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house trained. She may cry in her crate initially when left alone, but she does settle. This may need to be re-established in her new home. While she settles beautifully in her crate at night after a routine is established, she would eventually love to share a bed with her humans.
