Meet Darcy! This gentle 3-year-old, 34-pound Beagle/Dachshund mix is a sweetheart with a tender heart and a quiet hope for her forever family. Darcy's journey began with uncertainty, as she was cared for by an elderly couple who took in many stray dogs. Sadly, after the husband's passing, the wife struggled to manage, and the dogs began escaping. This led to legal trouble, and Darcy and her companions were at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, they were rescued and brought to Take Paws Rescue, where Darcy is now decompressing and learning what it means to be a cherished indoor companion. Initially shy, Darcy is incredibly sweet and eager to trust. She was known as one of the best snugglers, a quiet shadow who loves to be close to her people.
Ideal Home
Darcy thrives in calm environments where she can move at her own pace. She's happiest in cozy homes and apartments and would do best with someone patient and gentle who is willing to let trust grow slowly and naturally.
Ongoing Health
All dogs in our care receive age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, and are kept up-to-date on heartworm and flea prevention. If not yet performed, spaying/neutering will be completed. Heartworm testing and appropriate treatment are also provided by the rescue's vet.
Training & Support
Darcy appears to be housebroken and has lovely indoor manners. She needs a patient adopter who understands her need to build trust gradually.
