Meet Rio!
Rio is a beautiful young Shepherd mix, possibly with a touch of Whippet, who is as graceful as she is smart. Born around May 1, 2025, she currently weighs about 30 pounds and is growing into her lean, athletic build. We expect Rio to be a medium-sized dog when fully grown. Rescued from an abandoned home in Texas, this sweet girl has shown resilience, friendliness, and a gentle spirit that will make her a wonderful companion. Rio is doing wonderfully with her house training and is already crate trained. She’s a quick learner — her fosters say she’s even working on ringing a bell to let them know when she needs to go outside! Rio is great with other dogs and would love a canine companion to play and explore with, though that’s not a requirement. She has been gentle and friendly with children and is learning her leash manners one walk at a time. While Rio can be a bit reserved at first, she’s blossoming more every day and showing her affectionate, loyal personality. Her foster family describes her as super smart, eager to please, and full of potential — the kind of pup who will thrive with love and a family excited to keep her learning and growing. Rio will make a wonderful companion for an active person or family looking for a bright, loving dog to share life’s adventures with. Every rescue pup is a work in progress, and that’s the beauty of it. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves.
Ideal Home
Rio would do best in a home with children 10 years and older. She would love a canine companion to play and explore with, but it is not a requirement.
Ongoing Health
Rio is up to date on vaccinations and has been spayed.
Training & Support
Rio is crate trained and is working on house training, even learning to ring a bell to go outside! She is learning her leash manners. As with all rescues, she is a work in progress and will benefit from consistent training and positive reinforcement.

Rio is currently being fostered in Massachusetts and can be transported to her forever home.
