About Tommy

Tommy is a charming, approximately 10-month-old male Terrier mix, weighing around 27 lbs and expected to reach about 37 lbs. Born on April 10, 2024, Tommy was rescued and is currently being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico. He's a sweet boy who is learning to trust people and can be a little shy with new faces, but he's also very affectionate, playful, and loving. He thrives on activity and enjoys running and playing with his canine friends. Tommy's mother was also a rescue, and he was born at the shelter.

Ideal Home

Tommy would do best in a home with individuals who have an open mind about the behaviors of rescued animals and understand their need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended, along with a great deal of patience and tolerance for a rescued puppy. It's important to realize that rescued dogs may have been traumatized and will need an adjustment period.

Ongoing Health

Tommy has a comprehensive health protocol: he is neutered, has received two DHPPI vaccines, a Rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed. He is microchipped and has tested negative for heartworm. He also received a 4DX test and certificate. He is on monthly preventive medication (Nexgard Spectra) for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He has a health certificate and vaccination booklet. Please note that rescued dogs are not always potty trained.

Training & Support

Tommy is not house-trained. He will require patience and consistency in training. Understanding that rescued animals may have unique needs and behaviors due to past experiences is crucial for his successful integration into a new home.

Transportation

Tommy is currently being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico. He is available for transport to the East Coast of the United States as part of our cross-country trips. The transport fee is $400 and is paid by the adopter prior to departure. Delivery will be to the adopter's home address.
