About Daisy Hill

Daisy is a resilient 30lb Golden or Goldendoodle mix who has overcome incredible adversity. She is estimated to be over 2 years old and spent her entire life fending for herself in Pulaski County, KY, after likely being abandoned as a puppy. Residents observed her for years, providing food but fearing she would be euthanized if authorities were alerted due to her poor condition. It's believed she had several litters of puppies during her time on the streets.

A dedicated local trapper, Rhonda Wilson, became aware of Daisy's plight. Unable to take Daisy in herself, Rhonda contacted GRRAND, knowing the organization's success in finding loving homes for rescued dogs. Volunteers stepped up to foster Daisy once she was safely trapped, and Rhonda successfully brought Daisy into safety.

Rhonda's vet visit revealed that Daisy's hair loss was due to a severe flea infestation and a secondary bacterial infection, not mange as initially suspected. She is also being treated for a tick-borne illness. Daisy is currently on antibiotics for her skin and the tick disease. She is in a safe, outdoor 10x10 pen with a dog house and straw at Rhonda's kennel. She is receiving regular meals and sulfur baths three times a week for a couple of weeks. After this initial treatment, she will be transferred to a specialized GRRAND foster home in Louisville, where she will begin to learn that life and people can be kind. It will be wonderful to see her coat grow back and for her to experience a loving indoor home.
