Merle Dawson is a stunning 5-year-old, 47lb pittie mix with a coat as unique as his personality. His icy blue and caramel brown eyes, combined with perfectly floppy ears, make him a true head-turner. But it's his infectious joy and boundless love for people that truly steal hearts. Merle greets everyone like a long-lost best friend, leaning in for affection and soaking up every bit of attention. He's a goofy, devoted, and ridiculously lovable boy who is convinced he's meant to be yours. He truly has all the makings of an amazing family dog, having enjoyed the company of children as young as 5. Merle is happiest when he's involved in the action, whether it's playtime or just hanging out, he's content to be your shadow. He also enjoys puzzle toys and lick mats to keep his curious mind engaged.
Ideal Home
Merle would thrive in a semi-active home where he can be included in the daily rhythm of life. A home with a large fenced-in backyard is preferred over an apartment. He would be happiest as the center of attention in an only-dog household, though he has done well with easygoing, calm female dogs.

Training & Support
Merle is treat-motivated and eager to please, making him a joy to train. He walks fairly well on a leash, with occasional pulling due to excitement or wanting to greet a friend. He is working on basic commands like 'sit' and will benefit from continued training as a bonding experience.

Transporation
Merle is located in Texas and can be transported nationwide via our rescue's USDA-certified transport system. Drop-off locations are available in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You can track his journey in real-time and receive photo updates. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
