Maya

Maya is a loving, intelligent, obedient, and playful Labrador Creole mix, approximately 1 year old and weighing around 30 lbs. She is energetic and sociable with all humans, children, and other dogs, enjoying play, walks, and lots of affection. Maya can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but quickly melts into your arms once she receives some love. She is a joyful and funny companion who is also very affectionate, docile, and loyal. Maya was rescued in March 2024 with her siblings and is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico.

Ideal Home

We are looking for homeowners with a fenced backyard who lead active lifestyles and enjoy outdoor activities. Families with an open conscience about the needs of rescued animals, who understand their behaviors and the need for protection and education, are ideal. Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, as is a high tolerance and patience for rescued pups. Please note, Maya is NOT house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Maya has completed a comprehensive health protocol including: spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and she is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive treatment for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. She has a health certificate and vaccination booklet.

Training & Support

Maya is crate and leash trained. As with many rescued animals, she may need time to adjust to a new environment and may have some behavioral needs that require patience and understanding. We emphasize that rescue dogs are not always potty trained and require consistent guidance and education.

Transportation

Maya is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transportation to the adopter's home address is available for a fee of $400.00, which will be paid by the adopter prior to departure.
