About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup that weighs 7 lbs. She is estimated to be around 20 lbs when she is fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and absolutely adores being doted on by her humans. She is curious by nature and is always the first to investigate new toys, noises, and people. Her friendly and social nature makes her the perfect pup for an active family that enjoys having their fur-baby involved in their everyday life. Annie's laid-back demeanor is perfect for a family that wants a pup that can adapt easily in different environments and enjoys going on fun family adventures. She is always happy, no matter what she is doing, as long as she's with her humans. Whether it is playing with the other dogs in her foster home, cuddling with her foster mom, or tossing around her toys and chasing after them around the yard, Annie is going to have a good time doing it. She is the kind of pup that can be active, playful, and curious when it's time to have some fun, but also laid-back and mellow when it's time to relax and lounge around on the couch. She's also great about entertaining herself when her foster mom works from home. She will toss around her toys and chase after them to keep herself busy, or curl up on a dog bed and nap until it's time to go play outside. Because of her adaptable personality, Annie would fit beautifully into a variety of homes. She would love an active family that enjoys taking walks, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and including their dog in everyday activities. At the same time, she would be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles and quality time together. As long as she's with the people she loves, Annie is content and ready for whatever the day brings.

Annie is medium energy, so she is pretty mellow with short bursts of puppy energy that are quickly burned with brief exercise and play sessions. Her favorite activities include playing some fun mental stimulation games that involve yummy treats, exploring the backyard, and tossing her toys around the room then chasing after them. She also loves to play with other dogs and her face lights up when she meets a new furry friend. While she enjoys playing with her doggy friends, shes also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys when she can't find another pup to play with. She has the perfect balance of playful puppy energy and laid-back cuddle bug vibes. She enjoys running, playing, and exploring, but she also loves spending time with her people and soaking up all the cuddles she can get. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and she'd be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that she is about to start teething. As Annie grows and masters her leash skills, she'll be excited to expand her adventures beyond the backyard. She would love to join her humans for casual neighborhood walks in the evenings or exploring longer nature trails on the weekends. Hiking through the woods, splashing around near the water, or strolling through town for some new sights and smells, Annie will always be happy to go along for the ride.

Ideal Home

Annie is dog, cat, and kid friendly. She has been around kitties before and is friendly towards them. She would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home that is comfortable around dogs. Since she is a silly, playful puppy, she would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before, as she is a puppy and will want to play with them. She would do well with kids of all ages and would love to have kids in the home that she can play fetch and cuddle with. She is very loving, playful, and sweet, so the more people to give her affection and play time, the better. She would do best with older children who are experienced with smaller breeds and know how to be careful when handling her. She can be wiggly when she is excited and picked up, so a small child could drop her if they try to carry her around the home. She is starting to teeth, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She's also the type of dog that can be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and affection to herself too. No public dog parks for this sweet girl. She would love to have fun adventures going on outings around town or going to Sniff Spots for enrichment, playtime and exercise. She would love if her human works from home or works a hybrid schedule, but cannot go 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks so a dog sitter or day care is recommended if you have longer days at work occasionally.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and even hangs out in her kennel with the door open to nap throughout the day. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood as she is carried in her doggy pouch. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She is doing well with potty training and will alert her foster family she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you when she needs to go outside. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours initially until she gets on a good routine in a new environment, but she picks up quickly on new schedules and won't take long to adjust.
