Ukulele has been with us for three years now, and this sweet boy has truly blossomed! He initially found the environment at animal control quite overwhelming, so we were happy to bring him into a quieter setting. Even then, he took some time to adjust, but thankfully, a dedicated trainer stepped in as a foster. This amazing foster home allowed Ukulele to truly come out of his shell, proving he was capable of overcoming his panic and even enjoying the simple pleasures of a comfy couch, playful toys, and delightful walks!
His journey continued with another foster experienced in helping shy dogs, and that's where Ukulele is absolutely thriving today. He adores their secure, fenced yard, which gives him the freedom to explore safely. He also finds comfort and security in his crate, viewing it as his own special haven. Ukulele is a true gem, wonderful with the other animals in his foster home, including dogs and cats, and is also great with children. His gradual gain in confidence has been a beautiful thing to witness, and he is undoubtedly worth the wait for the right family.
Ideal Home
Ukulele is doing wonderfully in a home with a fenced yard where he has safe freedom to roam. He also appreciates his crate as a safe space. Children in the home should be gentle and understand the need to give him space until he feels comfortable in his new surroundings. He does best in a "pack" environment with other dogs.
Ongoing Health
Ukulele's vaccines are up to date, he has been altered, and his heartworm status is negative. He is currently on heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Ukulele is house-trained and crate-trained. He is described as shy and goofy, and is a true "dog's dog."
