Meet the breeder
Meet Samantha Davidson. Samantha Davidson is a breeder, passionate about breeding handsome dogs with outstanding temperaments. Introduced to the border collie breed, she quickly fell in love with their loyalty and eagerness to learn. She researched the breed, learning the individual needs of Border Collies and handpicked out a sire and dam for their exceptional temperaments, physical characteristics, and easy trainability. She takes DNA samples to test for over 267 health traits before choosing a dog to breed with. Samantha is passionate about responsibly breeding. She enjoys spending time with both basic and herd training in Eastern Washington. More about the Sire, Knox: Knox is strongly affectionate. He likes to give kisses and often will lay by your seat or at your feet. He is largely motivated by physical touch and affection from others. He was easy to potty train as a puppy, and comfortable trying new things from the get go. Knox doesn’t need to be alpha in a group of dogs, but he holds his own and isn’t afraid to wrestle for a favorite toy. Knox is moderately interested in toys. He is far more interested in herding. We've begun training him this year and it has been a joy. Knox has more of a low drive with a good off switch. He will engage during work or play and then is capable relaxing with the family. Knox does especially well in the car and is all in all a front seat kind of dog. He brings a comfortable calm temperament. Even as a puppy, he’d rarely bark even in new yards or situations when other dogs were worked up. He will vocalize though if strangers approach the yard without us. More about the Dam, Maya: Maya is reliable around children, cows, goats, and horses. She watches her person, eager to learn and please. Maya especially enjoys play as a reward and has a good toy drive. She will keep looking when toy is hidden until it is found. She’s moderately affectionate, meaning she likes a little more space but stays in the vicinity of her person and looking at them to check in for instructions. She doesn’t often lick people, but would rather drop a toy at your feet asking to play. She is often the alpha of the group when with other dogs and is a great leader. Maya does remarkably well with children. She listens to even our 2-year-old and is spatially aware of the younger ones. For example, when playing tug of war or running around with other dogs, Maya guides them in a wide circle around our kids so they wouldn’t get bumped into or knocked over. She also has enjoyed herding this year, and similarly has a good off switch. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders. We encourage all prospective puppy owners to do their research and be prepared with questions to ask the breeder. Make sure you are not only choosing the right breed for you, but also that you’re getting it from the right individual.
