Meet Rover, a charming 2-year-old Black Mouth Cur with an athletic build and a heart full of love! Rover is searching for a patient and understanding adopter who will allow him to build trust at his own pace. He tends to bond more readily with women and can be a bit reserved around men initially. Once he feels secure, his true, affectionate personality emerges, and he becomes an incredibly loyal companion.
Rover is ready for all sorts of adventures, from hiking and exploring to simply relaxing at home. He has a particular fondness for water, whether it's a lake, pool, or sprinklers – he's game for a splash! He's also a great travel buddy, rides well in the car, and walks nicely on a leash, always eager to join you on new outings.
He gets along well with other dogs who respect his need for personal space. Dogs that are too pushy aren't his preference, but he enjoys playing with canine friends who understand good manners. Rover has also coexisted peacefully with cats and chickens.
Ideal Home
Rover could do well in an apartment setting if his adopter is home often and committed to providing daily exercise and enrichment. A secure yard with a very high fence is important, as he is capable of climbing a 6-foot wooden privacy fence. Supervised outdoor time is also recommended.
Ongoing Health
Rover is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and up-to-date on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.
Training & Support
Rover is already potty trained and kennel trained. He is well-mannered in the home.
