Meet Madame and Pepper! Madame is a 3-year-old, 37# sweetheart, and Pepper is her 23-month-old, 40# active daughter. Though their DNA shows a mix of Husky, Boxer, and other breeds, they look like beautiful Black Labs! These two are a bonded pair with interesting backstories, but they are ready for a loving home.
Ideal Home
Madame and Pepper are gentle, sweet, loving, and smart girls with happy dispositions who are passionate about people. They are active and enjoy walks and playing in the yard together. They do well with children of all ages, but we recommend a home with kids aged 10+ who are kind and dog-savvy due to Madame's amputation and their exuberance. They are social with dogs of all ages, sizes, and genders. Cats are unknown, as they have chased feral cats on their property. A secure, fenced, and supervised yard is required for their safety. Madame can experience separation anxiety and may try to escape to find companionship, so someone being home most of the time is ideal.
Ongoing Health
Madame is a survivor and a true trooper! She was shot in her left rear leg, which resulted in an amputation, and an additional bullet was removed from her chest. Despite her past, she doesn't let it slow her down and acts as though she has no handicap! Pepper has fully recovered from birthing nine puppies and has been spayed. Both girls are up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Madame and Pepper are fast learners who listen well, enjoy praise, and are treat-motivated. Their biggest need is a family with special needs experience for Madame and someone who can be home often due to Madame's potential for separation anxiety. They do well when living together, which keeps them both calm. They love belly rubs and back scratches!
