Mimi is a sweet and resilient female American Staffordshire Terrier Mix, approximately 5 years old and weighing around 38 lbs. She was found abandoned and underweight in Matamoros, Mexico, but her loving spirit never wavered. Mimi is a happy, playful, and affectionate girl who adores human companionship and is eager to please. She's social with other dogs and can live with cats with proper introductions. Mimi is active, funny, and full of love, with a gentle and good-natured temperament. She's ready to leave her past behind and find a family to cherish.
Ideal Home
Mimi would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of rescued animals, including their need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly desired, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued dogs are essential.
Ongoing Health
Mimi has undergone extensive health protocols, including being spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and 4DX. She is currently on monthly preventive medication for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet. It's important to note that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and may not be house-trained.
Training & Support
Mimi is not house-trained and will require patience and consistency in establishing house-training routines. Adopters should be prepared to provide a safe, loving environment, establish a routine, and set clear boundaries to help her feel secure. Given her intelligence, a commitment to ongoing training or professional support is recommended to help her reach her full potential.
