This handsome guy comes with a story. Chubby was found roaming the streets of NYC with a bleeding neck. A kind Samaritan took him in, paid for his vet care, and even had him neutered in hopes of finding him a loving home. Sadly, after a few weeks, she had no alternative but to bring him to the New York Animal Care Centers. There, he was placed on the euthanasia list, but thankfully, an amazing woman stepped in to save his life!
Chubby is an Amstaff mix, approximately 5 years old and weighs around 60 pounds. He is already neutered. He's incredibly exuberant and friendly, always looking to make new friends with people and other dogs alike. His foster mom describes him as an entertaining guy who loves to wrestle and play chase, often showing a submissive nature with other dogs because he just wants to be liked. He enjoys walks in the woods, car rides, and cuddling. Chubby also loves playing with his toys and enjoying chews. He has an active mind and needs stimulation, especially if he has another dog to play with. He does not like his crate, likely due to shelter associations, but he does enjoy relaxing on yoga mats. After a rainy walk, he especially enjoys being dried off.
Ideal Home
Chubby would do best in a home with another dog, as he thrives on company and loves to play. His foster mom also suggests that his ideal home would have someone who will spend a lot of time with him and engage in activities like running together. Given his size and exuberance, he would be best suited for a home with older children.
Ongoing Health
Chubby has no specific health conditions noted.
Training & Support
Chubby can get over-excited at times, so his owner needs to be a strong presence to guide him through these moments. While he is housetrained and crate trained, he does not seem to like his crate. He is good on leash.
