About Pearlie

Pearlie is a 5-year-old, 50lb spayed female pittie mix with a striking snowy coat, soulful eyes, and a heart that's learning to feel safe again. Once too scared to leave her kennel, she now shows growing confidence and a developing affectionate, silly, and deeply loyal personality. She needs a patient, understanding home to continue her journey. Pearlie is curious, playful, and incredibly loving once she trusts you, enjoying her stuffies and giving plenty of kisses. She bonds deeply with her people and thrives on that connection. She can be fearful of strangers and nervous in the car and outside in the dark, but with support, she's steadily gaining confidence. Pearlie has likely experienced physical abuse, and while she's made incredible progress, she will need time, patience, and a gentle approach to build trust.

Ideal Home

Pearlie’s ideal home is a calm, patient, and understanding environment where she can continue to decompress and feel secure at her own pace. She would do best with someone who sees the beauty in a dog who needs a little extra time and will celebrate her progress. She adores kids and has lived with children aged 3 to 18, but due to occasional jumpiness when excited, supervision with smaller children is recommended.

Ongoing Health

Pearlie is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Training & Support

Pearlie is fully house-trained and crate-trained, feeling most comfortable in her own space during mealtimes and when enjoying treats. Leash walking is a work in progress and will require consistency and patience as she continues to build confidence. She prefers to do her own thing around other dogs and isn't a big player, but she coexists well with dogs in the 50-80 lb range. Slow, structured introductions are important, as she can be socially unsure, sometimes ignoring or barking. On leash, she may react similarly but is improving daily. She doesn't need another dog to be happy but could live with the right calm, respectful companion.
