Artie (MD)

Meet Artie! This sweet, active, and energetic boy is a black and tan smooth-coat Tweenie, weighing about 17 lbs. He's under a year old and full of puppy zest! Artie's previous family had to move and unfortunately couldn't take him along. He's a lively pup who loves to play with other young dogs, and he's already neutered.

Ideal Home

Artie needs an active adopter who can keep up with his energy! He requires a large, secure fenced yard (no invisible or electric fences) where he can run to his heart's content. He would thrive with an at-home adopter who can provide constant supervision and interaction. Artie needs a dog buddy of similar size, age, and energy level who is willing to play with him throughout the day. He is not a good fit for apartments, condos, or townhouses due to his tendency to bark. Due to his puppy nature, he should not be in a home with small children or cats.

Artie is a healthy young pup with no special medical needs mentioned.

Training & Support

Artie is not crate-trained and strongly dislikes being in a crate. He needs adopters experienced with high-energy Dachshunds and who have a proven track record of training and house-training puppies. Be prepared to keep a close eye on him, as he's an inquisitive pup who will get into everything if given the opportunity!

Transportation

Artie is currently being fostered in Maryland. Local adopters will be given preference to allow for an in-person home visit. Applicants must be willing to travel to Ellicott City, Maryland, to meet and adopt Artie.
