Oskar is a handsome mini Australian Shepherd, weighing 34 lbs, and estimated to be born mid-2022. This blue merle boy with striking blue eyes and stunning markings is a GQ model in the making! Oskar was part of a breeder dump and had a tough start in life, spending much of his time in a crate with limited human contact. But those days are over, and he's now learning what it's like to be a cherished dog. He's a project dog with special needs, requiring a patient and understanding home. Oskar is very sweet, loves to sneak in for cuddles, and his favorite activity is playing with other dogs. He doesn't bark, but rather "Woo Woos" – perhaps he's still figuring out his voice!
Ideal Home
Oskar needs a home with someone who is patient and understanding of his past. He is not a candidate for a home with children, as he can be fearful of new people and their friends. He thrives in a calm environment with a slow hand. A home where someone works from home or active retired individuals would be ideal, providing plenty of time for him. He absolutely MUST have at least one other dog in the home to play with and learn from. Cats are an unknown and likely not a good fit.
Ongoing Health
Oskar is current on vaccinations, on heartworm prevention, has been wormed, microchipped, and neutered.
Training & Support
Oskar is house-trained with a doggy door and crate-trained. He is still building trust and requires ongoing training and patience. He is not trustworthy off-leash, but he is learning to walk well on a leash. He is easily spooked, so a consistent and calm approach is key.
