Meet Hussar Ridge. In 2020, we welcomed our first Appenzeller into our family. Since then, these incredible dogs have truly taken over our home and hearts. In 2021, I joined the AMDCA (Appenzell Mountain Dog Club of America), the official national breed club for Appenzellers in the United States and Canada. Two years later, I was honored to be appointed Vice President of the club. I have also been actively involved in the Registration Committee and later the Health & Genetics Committee. We actively show our dogs in conformation through both AKC FSS and UKC. Our Ibra earned her Certificate of Merit (CM) as only the second Appenzeller in the United States to achieve this distinction, along with her UKC Champion title and multiple group wins and placements. In addition to conformation, we participate in obedience rally, herding, and lure coursing. Our dogs have also earned Canine Good Citizen titles and AKC Temperament Test certifications. All of our dogs are temperament assessed and undergo comprehensive health testing through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) prior to being bred. Appenzellers are our passion, and we are deeply committed to preserving and advancing this exceptional breed. Our goal is to produce high-quality dogs that improve upon their lineage—dogs that are healthy, possess sound temperaments, and embody the hardworking spirit that defines the Appenzeller. We strive to raise dogs that excel not only as capable working partners but also as loyal, well-rounded family companions. Equally important to us is ensuring that each puppy is placed in a loving, responsible home—one that understands and prioritizes the needs of this intelligent and versatile breed.
