Loki is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued with his mother, Wanda, and siblings from a wooded area outside of Houston. Loki is the fearless ringleader of his litter, always the first to investigate new things and approaching life with confidence and curiosity. He's an expert climber and loves to play keep-away with his favorite toys, often waking everyone up for playtime.
Now an older puppy, Loki has a great balance of playful energy and a settling-in companion. He is potty trained, though a few accidents may occur as he adjusts to a new routine. While usually fearless, he can be a bit hesitant with brand-new experiences, but this quickly passes. He absolutely loves food and will make sure to get his share! Despite his energetic antics, Loki has an incredibly sweet side and transforms into a cuddly lap buddy after a day of adventure. He loves people and other dogs and truly seems to love life, greeting everyone with enthusiasm. He has been around children and is crate-trained, though not for extended periods due to his age. He has not yet been tested with cats. He is still working on his leash skills and basic obedience but is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Loki is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature into an exceptional adult dog. Continued socialization and positive reinforcement are key. Homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog are preferred to help mentor Loki, but homes without another dog are welcome if they have a solid plan for continued socialization (structured training classes, supervised daycare, playdates, etc.). Because Loki is still young, homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time are also preferred.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Loki is potty trained but may have occasional accidents as he adjusts to a new home. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Socialization is very important for Loki's development.
